PUNCH LINES AND STATEMENTS BY GURUJI
6 sections
§1
Time, space and matter
Book 3 · Time as the supreme principle: Kaal, the Void and Time Also: Gods, creation and other worlds
attributed by source, provisional
. Past, present and future are not conceptions, they are real. A person or a state, or a form, or something formless, but they are there. What is past? Matter is past, because it was created long back. What is Sustainer? Space is sustaining. Empty space is sustaining matter. And time is the great destroyer - that is Shiva.
§2
Free thought and earth citizenship
Book 5 · Mother Earth: her consciousness, our home and our God Also: Mind, brain and consciousness, Religions, history, society and science
attributed by source, provisional
.""Every human being is free to discover what his limit is, but we really have to exert ourselves to know our limits. We have to exert ourselves to discover what is limiting us and what are our limits, how far we can go, how far we can achieve. But very few people try that. We just always had a pattern of life: some family tradition, some social tradition, some country wise tradition. We never think beyond that. So the first thing for a yogi is to develop the capacity for free thinking. He must be able to take an objective view over himself, his family, his country, his class. Whatever is there, he must be able to think on that objectively. Then only his consciousness will begin to develop to a very great height. This free thinking should be achieved by everybody, who is practicing yoga. Otherwise what is the use of developing your consciousness if you cannot even think freely or take an objective view over all the humanity? Who am I? Am I Indian, or a Hindu or a Brahmin? I consider myself a citizen of this world. I am a human being. And today I can call myself an earthling. That’s what I am and that’s what you are. But because we are conditioned into so many things, we keep on thinking I am Indian, you are Pakistani, he is American, he is Russian, he is Turkish. We have to think beyond that. We have to accept the fact, that we live on this planet. This is the space age. We are earth beings. All the boundaries are political boundaries. Earth has been created with no boundaries. There is a song in a Hindi movie: «The birds, the water, the air - no political boundaries stops them». They don’t need a passport, don’t need a visa. They can go anywhere. So it is we human beings, who keep on creating the limitations for us.But we are growing out of our limitation, which we put ourselves. Thanks to our ancestors.""
§3
Gita recitation and adversaries
Book 4 · Mantra, japa and bija; the alphabet and OM Also: Scriptures, myths and their meaning
attributed by source, provisional
. Read one chapter of Gita everyday loudly. Remember because Arjuna heard the Gita directly from Krishna within 18 days, all his enemies were dead and he recovered all his lost property. I noticed over the last 25 years, that if somebody is reading Gita every day, his enemies disappear. If they are strong enemies they will die, if they are not so big enemies, then they will become friends. Reading Gita is very important. And also by simply reading it aloud you will remove all the negative things from your life, and life will become more peaceful, more prosperous. Just do that, and everything will be taken care of. I have never seen a man or a woman who is reading Gita suffering. When I first came here and became the owner of this big property, many local people were creating problems. I don’t even remember their faces and names, but 160 people are dead. I was just reading Gita. And then I realized, that there is some connection, so I stopped going to talk to them or seeing them. I don’t want to create unnecessary trouble, so I stayed inside most of the time. Yoga is a very powerful practice, and you are being taught what is described in Gita itself.
§4
Saint and yogi distinction
Book 1 · What Kriya is: its aim and general advice Also: Mantra, tantra, ritual and powers, Guru, disciple and the lineage
attributed by source, provisional
. Saints are those persons, who are praying to a certain God. They are not studying their own nature. They may work against their nature to please their God - so they suffer. In yoga the first study begins with yourself. First you know about your true nature - then you know about the nature of God, because you are a part of it. The approach is different. And the result is different too. A saint receives what God gives him by grace or when he is pleased - no more than that. And in yoga you will achieve it by your own efforts.
§5
No conversion requirement
Book 2 · His books, commentaries and public statements Also: Religions, history, society and science
attributed by source, provisional
. ""And again, we are not after converting people into this belief. If they believe - ok. If they don’t believe - ok, read it like a fairy tale.""
§6
Karma and bodily limits
Book 5 · What karma is: action and reaction, karma and the mind Also: Kriya Yoga practice
attributed by source, provisional
.To go beyond karma means that you go beyond the physical limitations. Your body directly represents all your past karmas. Khechari mudra is very important in that and the higher practice of Pranayam will take you beyond the physical limitations.
