A Yoga Vasishtha story of nested dreams

I told them that if you read Yoga Vasishtha, then in Yogavasishtha you will get to read a bigger things. I tell you a story from Yoga Vasishtha There was a king named ShikhiDhwaj His queen's name was probably Chudala. I do not remember correctly now She did a very hard penance for Saraswati ji to get her Darshan. When Saraswati ji appeared, she said - Ask for Boon. The queen asked for two boons. One is that whenever I invoke you, please come and give me Darshan and give me two boons. This was the first boon asked by her. Second boon she asked that if my husband dies before me, then his soul should not leave this place. .

She said Tathastu and she disappeared. After some time a king attacked Shikhidhwaj. Raja was badly injured in the battle And he died after coming back to the palace. Since Saraswati ji had given the boon So his soul remained in that palace. Because the Palace was under the protection of Saraswati ji, So even the invading king could not enter inside. After some time the queen desired to know what my husband was doing at this time, What is his soul doing right now? So she invoked Saraswati ji. When Saraswati ji appeared, Chudala asked - Mother, what is my husband doing? I want to see. Saraswati ji said, come with me. As it is described in it, they crossed many universes.

Or if we say in today's language, they crossed many dimensions and she reached one place. There was exactly the same palace, there was similar kingdom. The king Shikhidhwaj was sitting on the throne. Next to him was a replica of the queen Chudala sitting and the kingdom was going on as it used to earlier. So Queen Chudala was very surprised. She asked the goddess that what is the truth in this? Those who are sitting in front of me , Is that the truth ? Or is the dead body lying there and I am present here? what is the truth ? Goddess said - Come, I will shown you the truth. Then after returning from there after crossing many universes they reached the hut of a very poor Brahmin.

That Brahmin woman had also obtained the same boon from Goddess Saraswati after doing great penance. That if my husband dies, his soul should not go out of this place. So the Brahmin's soul was also in the same hut and that Brahmin's soul. Once there was a procession of a king going near that hut. Seeing the procession, the soul wished that I too were a king someday, So the soul of the dead Brahmin was imagining that I have become the king and his wife was the queen. That queen is you. And your king who is dead in the dream. It's his soul which is imagining what we saw when before coming here. When Goddess Saraswati told the queen, all this. It's a dream. dream within a dream, dream within a dream within a dream.

So the queen got very confused. She said - Mother, then what is the truth? If everything is a dream then what is the truth? Devi said - "In the midst of these dreams You got my Darshan and that Brahmin woman got my Darshan This is the only truth. Everything else is a dream." So this dream within a dream within a dream. This is the whole universe, which we are not able to understand. Yoga Vasishtha is a very serious book. I think if anyone reads that, the science fiction that we see today, in Hollywood or anywhere else, they are left far behind these real truths. Definitely read Yoga Vasishtha

ANANDAMAYI MA

Anandamayi Ma: seeker types, Goloka, bhakti and nested spiritual stories

GOLOKA

Most of the devotees are talking about Goloka where Krishna lives; and only a five-year old child – if you become like five-year old child – you can enter the Goloka. If you look at this from yogic point of view: the word “go” can be translated as cow and it’s translated – the indriyas or let’s say the senses; all the senses of your mind and nervous system can be called “go”. If you look at it from that point of view – that means your mind is actually the Goloka. It is the epicenter of all your senses. And they also say that only until unless you will be like the five-year old child – you can not get the entry into Goloka, that also means: if you’re able to achieve the theta state of mind by very hard practice of yoga, you will be in the twilight state – conscious and subconscious, in the middle of it; then only you will get access to the real Goloka, which is the magical world of your own mind. This is what I think about Goloka.

CREATING OF THE EARTH; MOTHER; FATHER; KALI; NIRVANA; SPIRIT; BUDDHA;

Earth creation myth, internal Vishnu/Lakshmi reading, nirvana and I-am/spirit tension

CREATING OF THE EARTH; MOTHER; FATHER; KALI; NIRVANA; SPIRIT; BUDDHA;

who created the Earth?

Guruji: it’s written never where except maybe one story. Vishnu was sleeping on the ocean and out of his ears two great daityas were born – Madhu and Kaitabh. They were extremely powerful beings – so powerful that they wanted to fight. They went in challenge Brahma, the creator. He told them – I’m too busy to fight, so you better wake up Vishnu and fight with him.

They woke up Vishnu, challenge him and the fight begin. For 5000 celestial years Madhu was fighting and another 5000 celestial years Kaitabhu was fighting. They were equally matched so the winning or defeat was near impossible. Then Vishnu decide to put a trick on them because it was impossible to defeat. He said: “o daityas! I’m so impressed by your power and valor - I’m ready to grant you some boons, ask me anything you want!” they answered that they’re also so much impressed by his power and valor and bravery – so you can ask any boon from us, we will give. And Vishnu asked them – ok, then die by my hands. They said – we’re ready, because we’re truthful people. But kill us there is no water.

Vishnu put their heads on his thigh and cut their heads with a chakra. Then the fat and meat of their bodies became to flow on the water and with the waves it turn into small balls. And I think one of the balls is Earth. Because the Earth is also called “medhani” – made with fat. The fermentation which takes place on that ball of fat – we’re. the bacteria.

Looking at it from another point of view: ear means sound; and sound is one of the properties of the akash element – out of akash the vayu emerges. Out of the vayu – two parts: prana and apana, Madhu and Kaitabh. No matter how much you fight with them – you cannot win them over; until unless they allow you to win. It’s very yogic story.

You cannot win prana and apana without their consent – that’s the beauty. That also tells us that daityas were true to their word.

Maybe you can call Vishnu like subconscious mind. Vishnu is portrait like sleeping on the bed of Sheshnag; the goddess Lakshmi is just sitting with him, doing some service while he is sleeping.

My point of view on this is: Naga means life, the carrier - it also looks like your brain exactly; and Vishnu is sleeping on that. In my opinion, Vishnu represents your subconscious mind. he is sleeping – but all powerful, almighty. Goddess Lakshmi represents conscious mind – sits there and takes care of subconscious mind sleeping on the top of the brain, which looks like Sheshnag.

Only when something happens – then goddess Lakshmi wakes him up and he does the miraculous things and again goes back to sleep. Vishnu represents subconscious mind, Sheshnag represents your brain – the formation of brain looks like a Naga coiled together – and goddess Lakshmi, in my opinion, represents the conscious mind. and the cortex represents the Brahmanda – brain is floating inside cerebral fluid – you can call it the ocean, in which Sheshnag is there and Vishnu is sleeping on it and goddess Lakshmi sitting with him. Ocean of consciousness – brain, floating in it – subconscious mind, sleeping – and goddess Lakshmi, conscious mind taking care.

Women's support, astrology limits, longevity testimony, sleep and dangerous book practice

Is it true story then Bhringin refused to do pranam to devi Parvati – then she cursed him and he remained only with his bones and nerves?

Guruji: Yes, I’ve heard this story – but only in tv series. In real purana I’ve never come across this. Nandi and Bhringin are main ganas, yes. I don’t know where they took that from.

But his shape is different?

Guruji: Maybe he has three legs, because many Shiva ganas are like that.

Sulfur is connected with raja Bali: maybe he was there. In Ayurveda sulfur is called “fat of the Bali”, balivasa: so it is connected with him and also with devi Shakti.

Raja Bali attained immortality by the use of sulfur: it is written in some ayurvedic ancient books, so one of the names of sulfur is “fat of Bali”. And he is a very righteous person: now he is ruling heaven.

DIKSHA

Daksha-yagya, Mrigashira, bilva and Datura

NO KUNDALS – NO KUNDALINI

what is the full throat sound? It is mention in the description of Daksha yagya.

Guruji: the sound of male goat is called that. Some people are trying to do – but I don’t recommend it.

Daksha take the form of deer?

Guruji: not Daksha, the yagya. Mrigashira nakshatra came into being with that.

it’s not connected with the horn on puja?

Guruji: we’re doing it near the dhuni, not inside the temple.

this nakshatra considered to be inauspicious?

Guruji: it was taken over by Shiva – so it’s supposed to be the luckiest thing.

they are so much stress on the greatness of bilva – but not saying, why it’s so?

Guruji: my interpretation: if you look at the leaf of bilva – they look like three eyes of Shiva to me. Maybe it’s directly connected with three eyes.

qualities of red Datura flowers are different from black ones?

Guruji: yes, because they are very rare in India. We have offered more than 4 kilos of Datura so far.

Higher Living, Aghora

Rudra, immortals and Vyaskoots — Kalsarpa, jiva is Shiva, and maya as His nature

“See what happens when you pick a fight with an immortal! Lord Krishna suffered calamity because of Ashwatthama’s gemstone. First he got a bad name stealing Syamantak stone and also had a quarrel with lord Balarama because of it, and then after Ashwatthama’s gemstone both families got wiped off.

“For an incarnation of Rudra, snakes will always be under his command. And according to Astrology, after killing a snake, the person’s astrology is also afflicted with Kalsarpa Yoga, which means extreme dejection and poor conditions which bring complete destruction. And if somebody has killed thousands of snakes, you can imagine what would happen to them.

“This is like reading between the lines. Facts are clear; you can derive you own conclusions. The whole psychology of Pandavas is pure terror: they won’t stop for anything, not even to help if one of them fell. Terror of Ashwatthama was in their minds. Ashwatthama’s revenge was also very thorough. If you read Mahabharata with this perspective, you’ll realize more truths. These are called Vyaskoots (Vyas’s puzzles). It is said that he has left such secrets in Mahabharata that only wise can understand. There are also some couplets which are difficult to understand; they are also called Vyaskoot.

“Guruji used to say that if you want to worship, worship immortals. Why worship mortals? It is absolutely right. He was indicating towards Shiva, versus incarnations of Vishnu, since Shiva-ji’s incarnations are all immortal. That’s why it is said that jiva (soul) is Shiva – it is immortal. Only body dies.”

“Guruji, is there a difference between Shiva and Rudra?”

Guruji: “There’s no difference. Rudra is his name. It’s definition is also given in the fourth chapter, somewhere in the end of Drona Parva: ‘rooh dukkham tat drayanti sa rudrah’ – ‘From great (ru-h) sorrow who liberates (dra-yanti) is Rudra’. Also, Shiva-ji’s worship, abhishek (anointment, consecration), is known as Rudrābhiṣeka, not Shivābhiṣeka.”

“People often create this mental block that if you desire siddhis or go after them, then you can never attain self-realization.”

Guruji: “That is most idiotic statement in my opinion. If you are practicing yoga, it’s results include these capacities. They’ve been described in detail, in Yoga Darshan and other texts. On the other hand, these instructions have been adulterated by the various devotional cults over time, that ‘thou shall not acquire any grandeur lest thou shall lose thy path’. How can anybody get lost?? There’s no other way to go! This is a journey from birth to death, and this is the path of life! (‘जन्म से मृत्यु तक की यात्रा है, और ये ही पथ है जीवन का’). Who can deviate from this path, you tell me. There’s no chance. Now it’s possible that sometimes we pause for analysis, sometimes we relax, but there’s not possibility of getting lost.

“And they say that ‘our guru is so great that he’s guiding the disciples away from any glory so that the disciple doesn’t get lost!’ But the truth is, the guru doesn’t even have know any such art which could win them any glory. I’ve see many such people, keep fooling others like this. There’s so much hypocrisy in the world, man! But what do we care, we can analyze even the hypocrites. That’s why I’ve written in all my books, ‘To the seekers of truth’. And truth is not just one-dimensional. It is multifaceted, diverse, and multidimensional. Whatever we are exploring, we trying to understand in its totality.

“As I said before, after understanding the creation we’ll be able to understand the mind of the Creator. And remember, Creator is ‘Alakh Niranjan’ – beyond carbon! Since He is beyond carbon, He is beyond this creation and not visible. What we are experiencing is His nature in our day-to-day life. First we’ll understand His nature then we’ll understand Him. Others have said that this is all maya (illusion), we should deny it. My observation is that maya is His nature. The more we understand His nature, the more we’ll become natural ourselves and understand Him better. Think of it this way: When you travel, you find dozens of fellow travelers. You can see them, touch them, but you don’t know their nature. You don’t know the person himself or herself. You just see the person. But that’s not enough. When you start talking to them, exchange thoughts, and get to know the person, then only a real friendship will develop. Got the point?”

HOW AGASTIA RISI DRINK THE OCEAN?

Agastya drinking the ocean

HOW AGASTIA RISI DRINK THE OCEAN?

Guruji, how is it possible that Agastia risi drank whole ocean just in three handfuls?

Guruji: Well, it took me a long time to figure it out; physics says that if you remove emptiness from between earth molecules — the size of Earth would be like a tennis ball.

So simply remove the emptiness from the water and the water remains like a handful, which He drank.

Such a simple thing!

Think on it.

Shiva and Vishnu story

SHIVA AND VISHNU STORY

is it true that when Shiva Ji went to Vishnu abode – he killed his gatemen?

Guruji: Kalabhairav killed everyone. Then Vishnu came running; and if you will read the description you will realize that Vishnu is a very fat person.

really?

Guruji: it is written, when Visnu was running, his big butts were shaking. It is in Kurma purana. So we assumed that he must be pretty fat. And then he asked: what can I do? And then he cuts one of his veins on the forehead and begin to fill up his skull-pot: for 1000 celestial years it was continuously filling; then he dancing and singing, sitting on the bull he came to Benares, Vishnu following him; there skull dropped and brahmahatya also went down. Then he made them alive – those two servants of Vishnu and paid them back- and Vishnu ran away. This is a description of Kalabhairav. Kurma Purana gave the best description: when Vishnu was running, big butts were shaking. So we assumed him big person. We must read everything carefully.

maybe he was just heavy?

Guruji: the heavy or the strong person may be not having very big butts.

HUMAN NATURE IS TO DOMINATE

Jamadagni — established state, chain of events and the Dattatreya boon

if we take the example of Jamadagni?

Guruji: he didn’t even lift a finger to save his life, when he was been killed.

yes! But the situation came and the person who killed him – he wanted to dominate, he wasn’t disappear

Guruji: no, but his son made him disappear

of course; but the situation came to Jamadagni?

Guruji: but he didn’t do anything! That means he was established there. It’s up to the son what he will do about his father – so he did.

but being in even such higher state doesn’t mean that immediately all the person who want to dominate him will disappear?

Guruji: no, it started the chain of events. And remember, he was such a powerful being: simply by his blessing Parashurama became immortal. He was very powerful!

that is amazing that such high being on such high level did nothing; he could destroy him easily! Maybe he wanted to die?

Guruji: he was not even having this desire( smiling). I think it’s very difficult to analyse Jamadagni rishi. He was one with the Universe already. It started the chain of events – that is for sure.

but he was immortal?

Guruji: I think so; he chose it in a way. And he was also aware that Kartavirya Arjuna has received the boon from Dattatreya and he was also knowing that his son is better warrior than him; and it was his desire to die from the hand of better warrior than him: so he just created the situation.

It was the boon from Dattatreya which he asked: let me die by the hands of the warrior who is better than me. Only Parashurama was better than him. Remember, Kartavirya Arjuna fought Ravana: Ravana was defeated by him. He was the very mighty person – but Parashurama Ji was even mightier.

SHIVA JI AND THE MOON

why Shiva Ji is carrying the Moon in His hair?

Guruji: it described in Shiva Purana and in Skanda Purana also.

what was the story?

Guruji: it’s the sign of immortality; the Moon did great tapas in Bhalka Shert in Gujarat near Somnath because he was decreasing; then Shiva appeared and granted him a boon and put him on his head.

KĀL BHAIRAVA AND THE FIFTH HEAD OF BRAHMĀ

Kāl Bhairava and the fifth head of Brahmā

KĀL BHAIRAVA AND THE FIFTH HEAD OF BRAHMĀ

Here I will say one more thing from the Shiva Purana itself: Kaal Bhairav was given the name Shankar by Shiva Himself; so the one whom we call Shiv Shankar may be Kaal Bhairav. Because he made the babbling head of Brahma quiet: Shan ka raha — make him quiet. You can find the reference in the Shiva Purana.

What happened when he cut the fifth head of Brahma?

Guruji: After cutting his head, he went all over Creation. That is a fantastic story; you should read it in the Kurma Purana. He was moving, riding a bull, with thousands of ganas following him, singing in a great mood. They went to Vaikuntha, and Vishnu came running.

First, two of his guards stopped him — he killed them and put them on his shoulders — then Vishnu came running. Then he cut a vein on Vishnu’s head and began to fill Brahma’s skull with his blood: for 1,000 celestial years the blood was flowing into it. After that he said, “OK,” and started to move away; Vishnu began to follow him.

Then it is written that he reached Benares, Kashi. And Brahma’s skull fell down there. So the sin of killing a Brahmin was gone. That place is still called Kapal Mochan in Kashi. Then he revived Vishnu’s guards and gave them back; and then he began to live in Benares. That is the story. Shankara: the one who made him quiet.

Is this place somewhere near the Ganges?

Guruji: No, it is in the middle of the city. Find the Kurma Purana with Sanskrit shlokas and translation.

KĀL BHAIRAVA AND THE FIFTH HEAD OF BRAHMĀ

Ganesh Ji — son of Shiva

GANESH JI — SON OF SHIVA

A question just came to me: why did Shiva cut off Ganesh Ji’s head and place an elephant’s head on him?

I am a simple man, so I will say that Devi Parvati created him with a special type of body wrap that acts as a soap in India. It is called ubtan. She just made him out of it.

And when there is a couple as powerful as Shiva and Parvati, a wife cannot have a son of her own. It is always a joint venture.

So Shiva cut off his head and put another head on him. By doing this, he also became the father of Ganesh.

So he is the son of both of them.

Thank you.

MANTRA / THE BODY REACHES MIND

Banasura's story — the dance for Shiva

I will tell you one real story; there was asura named Banasura. He was the great devotee of Shiva. His devotion and his yoga was so great that Shiva agreed to live in his castle- which is about 3-4 hours from this place – it’s historical fact. He was given 1000 arms when he will go to the battle. One day he pray to Shiva: please, arrange the fight with the man who is superior than me.

That is the dream of a warrior - to die from the sort of a man who is much superior than them. Shiva arrange the battle with Krishna. There was a very great battle and Shiva didn’t interfere in that, because it was the request of asura. Krishna cut away his 996 arms and only 4 remain. Then Shiva stopped the battle and said it’s enough. Banasura was defeated and then say to Shiva: now what I can do to please you? Shiva said – ok, dance for me! And in that blooded condition – blood flowing from everywhere – he begin to do tandav to entertain Shiva. He used all gestures and even magic - and finally Shiva was pleased and said: what do you want? He said – I’m looking ugly without the arms, please, make me whole and make me one of your ganas. His name is Mahakal now.

Just imagine: he asked for the battle and he was given, his 996 arms were cut, then his life was despair – because Shiva was his Guru and the final God; and then he said – dance for me! I mean that was the very great test. You can visit and see the castle – it’s on the hill and highly seen from the road and it’s absolutely empty space around. This was the very difficult test – but for very great things you need to go through very difficult tests.

Mantras, nadis and the subtle body

Indra, the mountains' wings and Mena; Bali in Indra's place

is it true that Indra cut the wings of mountains – they were flying before?

Guruji: yes, it is wide known story. I’ve read it in Mahabharata, it is also in Skanda purana and Linga purana. And even there is a saying of Bharthari, the immortal disciple of Gorakhnath. There was a son of Himalayas – Mena, the brother of Parvati. To save his wings he dive inside the ocean and refuse to give the wings. Bharthari writes: it was better for Mena that his wings would have been cut by Indra but it was not good that he left his father in problem and just escape himself.

every time Indra creates the problems for everybody

Guruji: now he is ousted by Shiva and now king Bali is in his place. That’s how this globalization begin.

Blessing of Adi Shakti — Gorakhnath's immortal cloth

BLESSING OF ADI SHAKTI

why sannyasi wears the clothes of special color?

Guruji: one time Gorakhnath went to pay respect to Adi Shakti. She was taking a dip in a primal ocean. When Gorakhnath was going down to her – she menstruated. And the clothes with that blood – she gave them to Gorakhnath as prasad. By wearing them Gorakhnath became immortal. Because we love to copy, we love to follow – all our people begin to copy that thing. But nobody became immortal after that.

so Daksha yagya happen somewhere not on the Earth?

Guruji: yes, and it happen in celestial world also – then it happen near Haridwar also. In Shiva purana we read about two yagyas – there and here. Man beings.

we talk about Shiva like Time or Shiva like Rudra?

Guruji: Shiva is the embodiment of Time and Shiva Shankar, Adinath is his first incarnation – who lives on Earth and was married to Sati.

But when I connect, when I read that she is burning herself in the Havan, and then Shiva Ji attacking the next day. So I think that the fire of Sati, we call Holika Bhaiya ki jay, but Prahlad was there, but nobody said Prahlad ki jay, Holika Bhaiya.

So maybe it is a symbolic representation for Sati. She burned herself, next day all the Shiva Ganas attack. See, everybody is looking like Shiva Ganas, all colorful, everything. And whoever is looking clean, they are like Rishis, so they are especially tortured with the colors and all these things.

So I think it is like that.

Another point if you just want to think, and Hindus cremate, so that big fire is a symbolic cremation. Next day everybody goes into the ghostly world, everybody is enjoying, everybody is equal. No class distinction, no status, nothing, rich, poor, all are equal, all are enjoying.

Anyway, they feel like enjoying. That’s the good thing.

And here, specially here in Govardhan, we are providing mud bath. Why? That is a special treat for my disciples because only disciples are allowed inside.

Braj-raj is considered the most pious and holy thing in the entire creation. Sri Krishna walked on it, Radha Ji walked on it, countless saints and sages walked on it. 16,000 queens of Sri Krishna before being cremated were here, they were cremated in this area.

So many saints and sadhus believe if you put Braj-raj on your person, sins of so many multiple different lifetimes just disappear.

So you all have come from the outside, even if you have not committed sins, some sin has touched you.

So the mud bath with the Braj-raj is waiting for you and I am sure now you must be feeling very pious and pure.

Yes, that’s how I see it.

Noah from India — Manu, Matsya, and flood discipline

Q : if we take the story of Noah from the bible: what do You think – there were only judes on that ship?

Guruji : you see, in India we have the story on that. Person who built the boat – his name was Manu. The Vishnu in the form of the fish helped him. Manu can become Noah in future. It is very similar phonetically. The story is almost same. He also was carrying all types of creatures on his boat; so Manu – Nuh- Noah. I have very different opinion about this flood thing. When the water is coming – it is not harming any sea creature or any creature who is living in the water. it’s my opinion and it might be true also that they are the most disciplined creatures, created by nature. Surface dwellers – they all are always breaking the discipline; no shark is coming on Red Square to kill anybody, but we’re going into the sea to kill them, to make business out of them. Never ever a fish, whale, shark has business of killing human being. Whenever the surface dwellers brake the discipline – more of they should or they shouldn’t - then punishment comes. In this big flush only surface dwellers suffer. We’re to keep that in our mind and we should consider it very seriously.

In our story Manu created a family after the flood. He found the woman named Shatarupa and then the human race started again. Their roots are from India.

How Demons Won Heaven — the Mahabharata account

How Demons Won Heaven

Guruji: "In Mahabharata, there's an account that when Chitraratha beat Duryodhan, in shame Duryodhan went on to take his own life, and then demons appeared and got inside the bodies of Kauravas. In the war, all Kauravs died by weapons and if a warrior dies by a weapon, he goes to heaven. That way all demons went to heaven :-). And since all pandavas died at the hands of Ashwatthama, not by any weapons, that means they never went to heaven. Thus, demons won heaven."

LUCIFER – KING OF NAGAS and the Garuda story

LUCIFER – KING OF NAGAS

When we talk about lucifer – we have an idea that he could be the shape-shifting snake: his first appearance was like a snake. He could have the jewel, which is formed in cobra’s head. And if you want I can tell you, why angels has feathers – according to Indian mythology.

of course!

Guruji: well, Kashyapa rishi had two wives: Vinata and Kadru. Kadru was the mother of cobras, snakes. And Vinata take birth to big eagles, garudas – Aruna and Garuda. Aruna became the chariot driver of the Sun god. Both the ladies were wondering standing in the morning, they saw the chariot of the Sun god; Vinata said that the horse’ tail is white and Kadru said – no, it’s black. They betting on that: whoever will win will become a master and the loser will become a slave. Kadru told her children, the nagas – they just surrounded the tails and it appeared black from a distance. In this way Vinata become a slave. When Garuda was growing, he asked his mother – why we’re slaves and they are masters? Then she told him a story and he went to the nagas and say: what you will take from me and we will be free? They say – bring the nectar from Svarga. Because Garuda was extraordinarily valorous and strong, nobody could stop his force – so he went there; it was big adventure and fight and he successfully brought a pot of the nectar. Then Indra came and told him: these Nagas – they don’t deserve it, because they will become immortal. Just tell them first take a bath, then drink nectar; meanwhile he just stole it away. He put it on a kusha seed: when Nagas came they begin to lick it and their tongues become two. Then Garuda ask a boon from Brahma, Indra and Vishnu: that let one naga be my food every day. Let them become my food – and this happen. So animosity of nagas and garudas are legendary. If you look to the angels – they all have feathers: they maybe offspring of the Garuda. Still their animosity is there, because Lucifer appeared as a snake and all the snakes are hated by the Christians. So all the snakes are nagas and all the angels are offspring of Garuda – and this thing will continue for some time.

You can find so many links in mythology all over the world. In India no angel describes with feathers. And most of the books are silent about Garuda – if he was married or his lineage; now we connect it with bible – all his children are able to fly, they have feathers.

it exists some analogue of angels in Indian mythology?

Guruji: no. but the story of Garuda is described in Mahabharata – how he was born and how this thing happen that nagas become their food. And Lucifer was the Lord of the cobras, shining black. Only one thing you should be careful: you can be a food for an eagle, but you’re not a food for a cobra.

Mythology or real stories — Itihas is history

MYTHOLOGY OR REAL STORIES

Hindus have 18 main Puranas and many sub Puranas, and we call them Itihas.

Itihas means history. Only after britishers started to come and started to do some research about hinduism, they begin to call it mythology.

But they are not mythology, they are records of real events which happened in the past. Sometimes the are talking from the future also, so you can look at those stories from both ways

from the past also and from the future also.

Shiva and pralaya

SHIVA AND PRALAYA

Nowadays there is so much discussion , everybody is prophecising that world

is going to end and apocalypse will happen , the Pralaya as Hindu says, that will happen.

But today, by doing Shiva Puja , great

realisation came to me: first Pralaya, the flood , which is described in many different religions happened much much more before Rama came.

And, the survivor was Manu, with all the

pair of so many of the species in his boat, and Lord Vishnu guided Him. as a fish. So that Matsya Avatar is Famous.

After that, Rama’s avatar did his work then

that great episode happened, in the history. Daksha Yagya happened, when Devi Sati

Left her body, because Daksha was insulting

Shiva, her husband. Shiva Ganas came and destroyed that specially fire ceremony and give a Beating to all Vedic gods.

MYTHOLOGY OR REAL STORIES

Shiva and pralaya (continued)

After that, as we readed all the books, Shiva was so in love with Her, He refused to live Her dead body. And put the dead body on his shoulder. And begin to roam all the worlds. And it was fear that the all creation come to the end.

Then to save the creation Vishnu cut down Devi Sati’s body different parts, maybe 52 parts. And all those parts fell on Earth. And, it is stated in all Puranas that Shiva came down with all those body parts to Earth. And wherever those body parts fell , a Shaktipeeth was established.

My take on that is - the person whose dance

brings the end of the world, now He is living on Earth. Pralaykar Himself self has made Earth his residence. With His wife, which Sati took another incarnation.DEVI PARVATI! So if He Himself is living on Earth, Than I saw no reason, that World is going to End. Or He will dance to destroy His own Home.

So relax, rest ashore , no Apocalypse is in the forseable future. But, we must learn to respect Nature. That is our duty

Think on that! Thank you very much.

Yama, Yami and the regulation of breaths

Q- The question is about “Hatha Yoga Pradipika”, chapter 2 about the practice of pranayama. I know there’s the God of Death Yama, Yama’ sister is called Yami. Why is a yogi called Yami?

A- Yama is actually regulating the number of people on this planet. That means when you are regularizing your breath, then you will be called Yami, following a very strict discipline. Yama regulates the number of human and other beings and a yogi is trying to regularize the number of his breaths, so from that point of view they are called Yami.

Learn Indian mythology — Daksha and Lucifer, Manu and Noah

LEARN INDIAN MYTHOLOGY

I am asked why I go to India to study, if I can read the Bible - and I say that Sanskrit is much older ...

Guruji: until unless you will read the Indian mythology – how you will find the common ground between bible and Indian mythology? Tell me what is the common story they both have? and god set his son on the throne and ask every angel to worship him, to bow down to him. every angel respect him – but the Lucifer refused. And there was a great battle in heaven; in bible they said – Lucifer was bereft from the heaven and was declared as fallen angel. In India the creator put his son Daksha as Prajapati to the throne and ask every god to do pranam: Shiva refused. There was the great battle on Daksha yagya – but in India Shiva won. And: Daksha’s head was taken out; then by the request of the Creator Shiva brought him back to life, but put the ram’s head on Daksha. Suddenly the story of Daksha ends in India – but on the west beast appears with the ram’s head, became the god of the black magic. Find the similar things! The original gebru name is Noah; in India – Manu build a big ark and took all the species to a couple; Noah and Manu – are the same. Until unless you read ancient books of every religion – you never find the common ground. A story of flood is everywhere, in every religion.

TEST FROM MATSYENDRANATH

Shiva and Krishna — pure devotion (continued)

Guruji: because they grow from blood of Rahu’s head. It might be carrying some germs of immortality inside. Rahu drink the nectar: then his head was cut and the blood flow. He didn’t die; and the blood flowing from the head becomes garlic and the blood from the torso becomes onion. I see no problem in eating it.

When you talk with krishnaits – they say that Shiva is the great devotee of Krishna. And one time Shiva became so emotional, thinking of Krishna, that tears falling from his eyes dropped into the ground and rudraksha tree grow out of it. According to their hypothesis – rudraksha is the pure symbol of Krishna devotion. And about Tulasi: she was the very virtuous woman, devoted to her husband, that he nearly became unbeatable. When Shiva was fighting Shankhasura – and nobody could kill him. then Vishnu took the form of her husband and had sex with her. She became unpure and her husband was able to be killed. She cursed Vishnu– that you will become a stone and shalagram came out of this curse. Tulasi cursed Vishnu – but that symbol every vaishnav is wearing. I'm still asking where is the logic but they just becoming angry. I will ask with the very open and humble heart to very pure vaishnav – where is the contradiction for wearing rudraksha? No answer has come to me so far.

There are so many things described and out of devotion we follow them also. Every religion is based on devotion; we’re agree that after a life there is something very great – and we believe in it, everybody, no matter which religion we are following. They all heart devotional by nature. Whoever will guide them to different paths – they will follow because we’re devotional by nature. We ask questions because sometimes the questions come. I wasn’t even thinking about it – but one vaishnav was not liking me because I’m wearing rudraksha. I’m nothing against tulasi also. It’s normal thing in every hindu house – to put tulasi leaf and make a chai. It gives great flavor to the chai and has the medicine value. And she was the great sati – the greatest of the great women – everybody respect her. Tulasi has a great power. But to differentiate – this thing is good, this is not – is not a good idea for devotee.

Hare Krishna is modern mantra?

Guruji: no more than 4-5 hundreds years old. Devotion is not a ritual, it is straight from the heart. If in your heart there is no love or devotion – all rituals will remain just nothing. Tulasi remains one of the greatest women of all times and she has the power of the sati. After her husband was killed his spirit was purified and he became Jalandhar Nath.

but Jalandhar Nath was not a human?

Guruji: he was rakshasa but born out of Shiva’s semen – so he has some very incredible things inside him.

she was also rakshasa?

Guruji: let’s say – she was a woman. The woman can be rakshasa, she can be vampire, she can be pishach – and she can be a woman also. A woman is a woman: the mystery is which angle she is expressed. To command the woman’s devotion is the greatest achievement for any man. And responsibility is again on the man: to command the devotion of the woman, 100% or 1000% devotion from her heart, from her body, from her spirit or from her soul – that everything she will just offer to that particular man – that depends on the man, on the qualities of the man. That again depends on the man – to bring out these super qualities in any girl. All girls has those possibilities. But all man may have not these possibility – to command this devotion.

only great man can command that?

Guruji: great or not so great – but he should be good in the eyes of that woman. That is the point.

One very old Bollywood song: if you not love me it’s fine; but if you will love someone else – it will be the big problem for me.

why such cases of half-truth or misinformation exists in every religion?

Guruji: maybe they leave it deliberately: if your devotion is true and genuine – you will discover yourself.

no religion describes everything step by step?

Guruji: you will not developing that way. Some riddle should be there, some mystery should be there – only intelligent person or real devotee will discover them. If you’re asking the questions and the person becomes angry – it means he became devotee just of the feeling of security belonging to some organization. Genuine devotion may not be there.

Name Michael is very famous in Bollywood movies. There was a character – Azit – and among his antagonists – villains there was always some Michael. Great aphorism from Bollywood actor: Michael put this person into liquid oxygen: liquid will not allow him to live – but oxygen will not allow him to die. He was an amazing character. You can learn a lot from movies – Bollywood or Hollywood it doesn’t matters.

The Agastya rishi and Vindhyachal story — why the rishi went south

"Guruji, why did Shiva-ji instruct Agastya rishi to go to South India?"

Guruji: "It's strange story. Once upon a time the Vindhyachal mountain became jealous of the Himalaya and started rising to become the highest mountain. Eventually it started creating problems, so Shiva-ji asked Agastya rishi to go to the south, as the mountain would have to stay low to give him passage, and instructed the rishi to tell the mountain to not rise until he returned. The rishi went to south India and never returned, and the mountain stayed low till this day (laughs). It could be symbolic as well - the rishi might have controlled the mountain with his powers .

"It's only due to Agastya rishi's impact that the south Indian culture is so rich. Shiva-ji's worship is very common, and compared to the north, the common man is more educated as well as peaceful and well-behaved."

Krishna's revolution — Indra deposed, Brahma's worship stopped, cow-herding begun

"Krishna was the first person to revolutionize vedic culture, which also seems like was his primary objective. He deposed Indra - the main deity of vedas - and stopped worship of Brahma. Krishna's work was revolutionary! Before Him, all avatars came only to help Indra, as Vishnu is Indra's younger brother - Upendra. Krishna stopped Vishnu's worship and started a new tradition of caring for cows. That's why he was called Gopal [go = cow, pal = to raise]. He started the worship of Goverdhan mountain and gave the discipline of cow-herding, which became the most virtuous of all work. No one else did all this before.

"The old vedic gods got so out of control, they even stood up against Shiva! After Daksha yagya, when they opposed Shiva just to get a part of sacrificial offerings and Mother Sati had to die, they have been continuously getting punished. That's why no vedic god is worshiped today - neither Vishnu, nor Brahma, Pusha, Varuna, or anybody else. New gods have emerged - Rama, Krishna, Hanuman, Radha-Krishna. Even a child makes fun of Indra. This means they were not as noble as have been portrayed in vedas.

Harishchandra's yagya — human sacrifice and the sold middle son

"Also, if you read carefully, it'd feel like these vedic rituals were more like hardcore tantric rituals. For example, king Harishchandra couldn't have a child. So he appeased Varuna, who said you'll beget a son but you'll have to give it to me at a particular age. When the time came, Harishchandra didn't give his son to Varuna, so he fell seriously ill. To appease Varuna again, he did a yagya which required human sacrifice. Vishwamitra rishi presided over the yagya ceremony. It's a touching story and also very famous. For the human sacrifice, Vishwamitra suggested the king to buy somebody. One poor Brahmin had 3 sons. The eldest one Brahmin refused to part with as the eldest son was going to continue his lineage. The mother refused to part with the youngest son as he was very dear to her heart. The middle son they sold to the king for money. In the story he was saved in the end - when he was tied to the sacrificial pole, he became enlightened since he had overcome the attachment of mother and father, and started uttering verses of vedas. Vishwamitra refused to kill the boy, claiming that he had now reached the state of a rishi.

Guruji about Holi

GURUJI ABOUT HOLI

One British scholar was sent to India to study Indian behavior; and he arrived just before Holi and left after Holi. He reported that all Indians are crazy – the craziest people on the planet. The queen refused to believe – and she sent another scholar; he arrived just before Diwali time and left after. He reported – Indians are the most civilized, best behaved people on this planet. This is India!

These two holidays – Holi and Diwali – are they connected with each other?

Guruji: No, not at all. But our behavior is very different. Maybe because of the Holi celebrations Indians are able to keep their sanity: because at least for 1 or 2 days in a year if you let go and do whatever you want to do and use any kind of bad word and dance and everything – then take a bath and be normal again; you will remain normal the whole year. It's a very good psychological game.

Is this tradition of putting colors everywhere connected with the plays of Krishna?

Guruji: That's all over India. That tradition existed even before. It started with Hiranyakashipu – after him. It’s very ancient. His sister – who was trying to burn Prahlada, Holika: this burning of fire represents her. Then it starts – next day celebration. Maybe only because of the Holi our life becomes so colorful all of the year. All people are fully covered with colors – they look like Shiva ganas to me, who went to finish Daksha. All clean, well-dressed people represent the vedic traditions; and burning of Holika is maybe Sati; after she is burned – then Shiva’s ganas come. And whoever is well-dressed or very clean – they soiled him. It may not be like it – but it looks like it! If you noticed: they always put gulab like tripundra. So it might be the connection with that. Also when they are taking someone’s from cremation grounds are also put like tripundra – here, in this area. We need to do more research on it.

It looks like Russian tradition – when at the end of the winter Maslennitsa is burned and then for one whole week everyone eats pancakes.

Guruji: We don’t have pancakes here – so we have paan only instead of that.

Vampires and werewolves — origins in Indian mythology

VAMPIRES&WEREWOLVES

maybe You have an idea about origin of vampires, from where they come?

Guruji: yes, I’ve been reading about it and I found their origin in Indian mythology. There is a very important portion in Shiva purana also, I Devibhagavatam also and in Markandeya purana also: Durga saptashati, when goddess Durga was created, invoked to kill the demon – Mahishasura. One of the chiefs of Mahishasura has name Raktabija. He had this power that wherever the drop of his blood will fall – another Raktabija demon will appear and start to kill. Then Durga fail to kill him and Chandi was invoked, Kali. She appeared surrounded with bats, vampire bats – they helped Kali to kill Raktabija demon. They killed most of the Raktabijas which appear of his blood by sucking their blood and killing them. Kali also drink their blood from bubbled bowl - that’s how Raktabija demon was killed. So first original vampires appeared with goddess Kali to finish Raktabija demon by drinking their blood. This is what I think. You have to read mythology very carefully and you will find the origin of most of the species. Even like werewolves: not much about werewolves are found in the ancient texts. But if you read Krishna’s life – you will find one origin there. When Krishna wanted all the cowherds people go – to leave Gokul and go somewhere else – they were not listening to him. so he created many-many wolves from his body. And when the wolves precede, they were afraid and they moved toward Vrindavan or somewhere. Maybe those wolves, who were created from Krishna’s body – they have some special impact of Krishna – maybe they were original werewolves. But this is again just my idea. You need to look it up more and do some more research.

Village wisdom and accounts of siddhas

Shiva's revolution, human divinity, and the Daksha yagya beating

it was Shiva himself – who stopped that game and start another one?

Guruji: actually he destroyed all the vedic programs and created something else. Thanks to Shiva that human beings were able to reach divinity. Before that no human being was ever worshipped, but after he did revolution against all these vedic gods – you see, Krishna was human, many human beings came after his divinity. It’s absolutely different program now. We need to think more on that.

can we say – generally it was play between Shiva and seven rishis – gods were just like managers?

Guruji: he gave a big beaten to those seven rishis, except maybe Agastya and Atri. They were the great beings, Atri – the father of Dattatreya. But ithers like Bhrigu were beaten in Daksha yagya. It is all power game.

In Shiva purana is – when Shiva send Virabhadra to attack all those people in Daksha yagya: some rishis’ beard were pulled off, their teeth were broken and they were given severe beatings. And then the writer writes: and those shivaganas done things with them, which we can not write here. So much things to imagine, what they can do. It means – it is genuine honest narration, which is been written.

Holi | Shree Shailendra Sharma

Holi is one of the most important festivals for hindus, in India. It has their beauty that on Holi day, when people are throwing colors – everybody is considered as equal. No difference between caste, creed – nothing is observe. Anybody can wish anybody and he can put color with enough respect on anybody. Sometimes, when somebody asked me – what is my interpretation of Holy, because there are so many stories in Puranas, but you know – I’m a yogi, so my interpretation is different. On full moon day we burn Holy – a very big fire is created and we put fire to it. And next day everybody is throwing colors at each other – they are all equal. My interpretation is – the big fire represents cremation. And then after cremation you enter into the spirit world. In the spiritual world everybody is intoxicated, everybody is dancing, everybody is enjoying and you can’t recognize who is who – because they are so much under colors. It is a very-very spiritual festival of India, and I think it is directly connected with Shiva. All Shiva’s ganas dancing and looking mad – that is Holy in my opinion.

Q: why he cut one of Brahma’s heads?

Guruji: because Brahma was saying things against time, and he was saying – he’s the supreme, only me, me, me… that’s why Daksha – the son of Brahma – was so much against Shiva, because he cut one of the heads of his father. This reference you will find in Kurma purana: they are describing the journey of Kalabhairav. After he cut the head of Brahma, then Shiva tells him that you’re kill bramin. Even if you don’t need to (???) for it, but to set an example for the creation at all. And he took the skull on hand and begin to move all over the creation. And the death of a Brahmin – Brahmadhya(???) begin to follow him in the form of the woman. And then the description comes, and that description is exactly of Shankar. Riding a bull, followed by many-many-many bhutas, pishachas, ghosts and spirits, with skull in his hand, three-eyed, in the very happy mood he begin to travel. And when he went to the abode of Vishnu, and Vishnu came running – what I can do?. And he answered “give me some alms”. Vishnu said – “what can I give you?” and he cut one of the Vishnu’s head and begin to full the skull with his blood. And he killed one of the Vishnu’s gateman before, because he was trying to stop him. After that he came to Benares – Kashi – and one of the skulls fall down. Even today that is one place, called Kapalamucha – they are not saying, that all these was happen with Kalabhairav , they say it was Shankar Ji– Shiva. So Shiva, Shankar and Kalabhairav are so much mixed together. That’s why most of the gods re against Shankar. Everybody was trying to create problems for him. Because he cut off the head of grandfather – Brahma.

Q: what is the meaning of these five heads and the head was cut?

Guruji: four heads was quiet, and the five head was saying things against Shiva. He was not ready to accept that out of the time they was created, Shiva is the main creator and they are just the third generation of created things. He was thinking, that he is the most supreme being. And this head was cut.

Literal reading favored in this example

If you going into philosophy, you can compare it with so many things. Five pranas, five vayu, five this, five that. But try to take the story literally. And you also will have to consider that every person to oppose Shiva Shankara – all those gods – they are not worshipped nowadays. They are all gone. Including Brahma – nobody worshipping Brahma. It was the very great improvement. All Shiva’s ganas defeated all the gods – after that new era came. Krishna was send, and he finished period of Indra. Krishna introduced nature worshipping there – the holy mountain and respect for the cows. In Vedas no much care was given to cows. In Devi Bhagavatam we read, that Kali incarnated as Krishna.
