Guruji: Yes, I’ve seen two sadhus; and there was a story of one Egyptian magician: he could do khechari and go underground for one and a half hours and come out alive.
Your opinion: they did only the first technique – then some other development?

Khechari in context of Kriya

Guruji: it is a part of Kriya Yoga; but ultimately the mudra in itself is not that important. When it is part of a very serious practice – that is very important. Yogis were everywhere; even they were travelling by foot in Azerbaijan and Russia also; and most of the land which connected – they were going up to Europe also. Wherever they will go – some knowledge will be left there.

Khechari and Tripurasundari

I’ve heard somewhere that khechari mudra is for Tripurasundari – or it’s not like that?
Guruji: let’s go by Hatha Yoga Pradipika: it is the most beloved of Shiva. If it is beloved to Shiva – you can connect it with any power. Then again I will say: you cannot narrow down yoga just to a single mudra: it is a trigger part of it – but it is not everything.

the yogis roamed everywhere and left the knowledge all over the world?
Guruji: it was part of their training – to move on foot: just don’t cross the ocean. So, India, Asia, Europe, Russia in one single landmass: they were going everywhere.
so they could teach someone?
Guruji: or somebody could see them or learn – anything is possible. That’s why only bits and tidbits are there, not the full thing.

Systems built on khechari; spirits and the tongue

as I understand some people took khechari mudra and something else – and then created the whole system on that?
Guruji: that was only to invoke the dead spirits and do something for the dead; not for self-awareness. Most of the spirits or ghosts when possess you – they enter your body through your breath: so when the tongue is there inside – it’s sort of shooed them away, so you remain safe. Everything is a power game. When we don’t understand something – we try to make an adjustment of physical things; and it takes years of serious practice, meditation and thinking – to realize what actually is happening.
