The contented Vrindavan priest

Book 5 · India: caste, gotra, brahmins, kings and culture Also: Guruji's life, the Darshan room and humour, Living well: emotions, love, family, work and money

Holy Place Priest Story I feel it is appropriate to share an anecdote. Whatever maybe the reason for it, but most people believe that Hindu priests cheat and loot general public. but my experience is somewhat different. After seeing Anandmayi Maa we stayed in Vrindavan for one day. The next day we left for Vrindavan's darshan early in the morning. We met a very old Pandit ji (Priest). He said come children, I will take you to different places. He took us on foot. He showed us places in Vrindavan for four to five hours. almost all famous places, around Bihariji and far away, on the banks

of the Jamuna and Gyan Gudri, we walked everywhere with him. He made us do Pranam etc. and he did not do any such setting. But one incident became very memorable. It was summertime around 12:30, in July. The sky was clear without clouds. Darshans of holy places had been done. We returned to our hotel. Pandit Ji said, brother, now you Go home. I will go to my home. If you want to give something to me then give. And I'll leave The same doctor who asked very smart question to Anandmayi Maa, I thank him that because of him, we experienced this

Got grace of Anandmayi Maa too. He was a catalyst in both. With a sarcastic smile, he took 1.25 Rupees out of his pocket and gave it to them. He was thinking that Pandit ji would create a nuisance and ask for more money. But Pandit ji put it on his forehead and kept it in his pocket and left.So the doctor felt very embarrassed. He showed us places on foot for four to five hours, but still he is happy and leaving with just 1.25 rupees He went behind him with a 20 rupee note and tried to give it to him. But Pandit ji refused. He said " You gave it. I took it. Thakur ji (God Krishna) has done our work today. Now you go your home and I'll go my home." I do pranaam to that Pandit ji. He was so santoshi (contended) and so nishchal (guileless). I have met very less people like him. So we should always respect such people.

If we Hindus will not respect our pilgrimage priests So who will ? They are our people, we need to support them. This is all there is to it.
